Businesses

Some players may choose to have their characters start businesses. Depending on the business, this will have an SP cost to construct the necessary buildings. Once up and running, the business operates in one of a few ways:
  1. Creates Resource Points (farm, lumber mill, fishing boat):
    • With a successful profession roll, each DTA spent creates one item that provides a temporary resource point. The description of the items is up to the owner of the business, as long as it fits the narrative. A farm might produce vegetables, and an iron mine probably produces a crate of iron bars. These may be used in other businesses or sold in the market at a price determined by the owner.
    • Some businesses may have limitations on how many DTA's can be spent or when they can be spent. For example, vegetable fields won't grow anything in the winter.
  2.
  3. Creates Items (cook, blacksmith, animal trainer):
    • Businesses that create items use the crafting rules in WWN pg. 58, as modified by this document (particularly regarding resource points modifying the cost). These items may be sold in the market to other PCs, sold to the in-market merchants, or sold via the trade/connect rules earlier in this document.
  4.
  5. Offer Services (inn, hospital, lawyer):
    • Having a business that offers a service requires a facility. The facility cost will be determined in a discussion with the GMs on a case-by-case basis. In general, the cost of the facility will be 4 seasons of base income. Base income will be modified by an administrate roll made by the owner.
